Time is a crucial resource with an undo option. Time is an invaluable resource as it can’t be bought, borrowed, stored, stolen or sold. In spite of it being such a valuable resource, it’s often taken for granted. Which shouldn’t be as all our success, mediocrity or failure rest on how well time is spent, used, invested, passed or misused (just wasted) or even killed.
When it comes to young student’s life, specially professionals in making there are some pressers like assignments, exams, assessment, attendance, social platform, friends, family expectations, skills and professional mismatch. It all can be managed well if we are able to manage our time well, increase our self worth, open to learning, positive attitude, accept failure, knowing self, improved social skills and teamwork spirit.
Our Millennia’s and Gen Z are indeed multitalented and multitaskers, thus, it becomes even more important for them to manage time. Time as a resource and other resources has been limited so, managing them is a challenge. Hence we opt for smart , nature friendly strategies, especially during this time of COVID 19, which has clearly shown the importance of nature .
Presently, we all are in ‘new normal’ phase of life, under lock-down due to covid-19. This new phase has brought new opportunities and new challenges in our life. Opportunities very clearly include more time at our disposal, huge scope of newness, new technologies coming in, new skill sets being imbibed, new ways of managing people , new abundance of resources at our disposal like , national library, MOOC courses etc , so we have so many opportunities to transform ourselves into “NEW ME”.
With these opportunities we have new challenges coming our way like, anxiety and uncertainty – in environment, at home , in offices, at country level. We have challenge of – excessive data coming our way which may include fake news as well. Now a days we all have become digitally literate , and what we need to be is becoming morally literate.
We are the youngest democracy of the world because of Millennial and Gen Z of our country, so we have more responsibility to shoulder.
If we see the brighter side , and the outcomes of this lockdown we will see the New Me which has new set of skills, new level of tolerance and patience, new sensitivity towards others and more concern for the nature around us.
And talking about time management it is intrinsic management ( which means me, of myself, and about me – knowing and loving self) and, extrinsic management (outside me – home , family, members of institutes, organizations , norms etc. ) , these two combined to form overall time management of an individual. Hence, time management is nothing but managing self along with environment around us.
And , time management clearly makes a difference in a number of ways – with time management we clearly define goals and achieve them, we are more efficient with assigned work, we are able to set priorities and able to take charge of things and our lives. We are also able to identify points of waste i.e. redundancy, learn specific / new skills / tools for newness and growth. Beat procrastination and handle our stress in a better way.
So, how to make best use of time, there are few skills for which we can try practicing – Prioritizing our work at hand, , scheduling our tasks, , keeping a to – do list, resting for a while, and delegation.
