Social media is basically a pool of web-based tools and applications that allows development and communication of user-generated content. It gives users an interactive, friendly and easy-to-use way to share, connect, communicate and network with others on an exceptional scale.

Meaning and implication of Social Media Mining (SMM)

Social Media Mining implies mining, digging and fetching useful & relevant information from social media pool. The primary focus of the data mining processes is to collect, refine and manage large-scale data, extract unknown and actionable patterns, and gain insightful knowledge which was earlier unknown that ultimately yields to better and quick decision process. Users on social media platforms post and share a lot of data like Twitter generates over 400 million tweets everyday. Mining social media is a fast and much needed multidisciplinary domain which can discover important facts, relationships, patterns on the web for contribution in social media research and development.

  • Align SEO keywords and Social Media-If you can effectively use your keyword or phrase in your profile or page name, it will help it rank better in keyword searches.
  • Be Social on Social Media-search engines look at social signals and factor in how often you’re posting, how many people interact with you, and if there are social sharing elements available to website visitors.
