Q. Most frequently asked question, when the candidates hear PGDM is , what is the difference between PGDM and MBA ?

A. The difference between PGDM and MBA, is basically related to where the degree is coming from, in case of MBA, the degree is awarded by a University, and PGDM is awarded by Autonomous Institute affiliated to AICTE. Indian Universities come under UGC ( Universities Grant Commission) and the course curriculum is formulated under their norms. But, as far as PGDM, which is run by Autonomous Institute, they have freedom to formulate their curriculum. And this gives them an edge in
molding and modifying their curriculum a per the changing demands of the Corporates. Also, the Institutes include a number of Soft skill related courses/labs which are apt for extending a helping hand in placements. Apart from this the Autonomous institutes include technology
related courses, like Python, R , SPSS , advance Excel etc.
These courses and labs help the candidates in an overall development taking into consideration of technical and soft skills of the individual.

Q. How to select an Institute for pursuing a full time PGDM/MBA course ?

A. There are various criteria’s which needs to be taken into consideration while selecting a full time PGDM/MBA course, but following are a must to have a look into :

a. The placement opportunities offered of the institute
b. The faculty qualifications and experience of the institute
c. The infrastructure of the institute
d. The detailed course curriculum of the institute
e. The specializations offered by the institute
f. The location of the institute
g. The industry exposure provided by the institute in the form of Industrial Visits, Live Projects,
Summer Internship Projects etc.
h. The accreditations of the institute

i. The ranking of the institute at state level and at National level
j. The fee structure

Q. Should a student with Science background pursue PGDM/MBA ?

A. Student from all background can pursue PGDM/MBA. Many students from Technical , Science, Arts and Commerce pursue PGDM/MBA, and they do fairly well in their future endeavor. Infact, few companies very specifically look for Science graduates to market their products. So, any background student can pursue a Management course.

Q. Is it mandatory to have Work Experience to pursue PGDM/MBA ?

A. To do a full time PGDM/MBA it’s not mandatory to have a work experience. But, candidates who have work experience , it’s advised that they should pursue an Executive PGDM/MBA, which gives them a better platform and better exposure. Also, known as EMBA, which is for
working professionals at managerial levels and they may not appear for an entrance exam , instead they are funded by their employer.

Q. Is foreign MBA, better than a management course done in India?

A. A foreign Management degree is better only when the candidate is interested in working abroad or has some intension of settling there. Otherwise, there is no major difference in Management degrees of India and Abroad.

Q. Is there any age limit for doing and MBA/PGDM degree in India ?

A. There is no age limit for doing Management degree in India. Any individual who is interested and passionate about Managerial role and wants to get into leadership positions in Corporate world can go ahead and pursue a Management degree.

Q. What is the level of rigor for MBA/PGDM course ?

A. The Management course is quite rigorous, there are various academic curriculum depending on the Institute, the course may be trimester based or Semester based. Apart from the academics, there are various academic and cultural events, various projects and internship etc. So, the course
requires good amount of commitment and academic discipline. Time management , leadership skills , team work, coordination , persuasion , conflict management skills etc. is learned during the course .

Q. What is the eligibility criteria for getting admission in MBA/PGDM ?

A. The eligibility criteria is different for different institutes. Various institutes ask for CAT, MAT, ATMA, CMAT , ZAT etc scores , apart from the Group Discussion and Personal Interview, which is conducted by the institute themselves in most of the cases. Once the candidate has successfully been through this process, the admission gets confirmed on payment of Course fee.
