Objectives of Visit -
- To understand the trade operations at Mumbai Port.
- To understand the role of development commissioner at SEZ and Visit export units.
- To understand the insights of Foreign Trade Policy from additional DGFT, Mumbai.
Jagannath International Management School, Kalkaji organized the visit of PGDM-IB (2021-23)students to the Mumbai port along with their faculty, Dr Navneet Gera.The Mumbai port is operated by Mumbai trust port and wholly owned by Government of India.Students were also were shown the important documents like Bill of lading and custom clearance documents which are essential for export-import procedures. PGDM-IB Students visited SEEPZ -Mumbai wherein Joint development commissioner Shri C P S Chauhan deliberated about SEZ -Mumbai followed by visit to fine line circuits and Jewlex (Jewellery unit in SEEPZ). Dr Navneet Gera (PGDM-IB(HOD) felicitated Shri C. P. S Chauhan (Joint Development Commissioner) and expressed gratitude for kind support and permission. Mr. Chauhan discussed about the exports of Gems and Jewelry from SEEPZ and future plans to boost exports from SEEPZ. Mr. Chauhan discussed about relaxation norms at SEEPZ for exports which includes less input costs, relaxation in labor laws etc. Custom procedure was discussed in brief.
The students of PGDM IB 2021- 2023 batch witnessed an industrial visit cum training session at Jewelex India Pvt Ltd. (JIPL) at Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone, India where they were exposed to beholding exclusive manufacture and export of items in an area of 110 acres of land leased through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. Students witnessed the workings at Fine line circuits manufacture which delivers near zero defect PCB's to manufacturing industries, heavy duty appliances, locomotives of all modes including space and other miscellaneous machines. Students' interaction at DGFT, Mumbai on 3rd Nov 2022 – Students were excited to learn the trade operations from the additional DGFT, Mumbai (Shri Rajesh Mishra). Mr. Mishra provided an overview about the ongoing foreign trade policy which has been further extended till 31st March 2023. Mr. Mishra discussed about the various incentives of foreign trade policy such as EPCG Scheme (Export promotion capital goods), AA (Advance authorization) in detail.
Finally, the student's interacted with faculty and resources at Indian Institute of Packaging, Mumbai. International business students were given a taste and flavor of packaging processes and familiarized with its effectiveness for international business.IIP faculty presented about standardization process and demonstrated different tests that are done for getting approval for cartage that are used for packaging.
